HomeMy WebLinkAboutHUR130-014 Health & Safety Bulletin BoardsCITY PROCEDURE Procedure Title: Health & Safety Bulletin Boards Procedure Number: HUR 130-014 Reference: Occupational Health & Safety Act Workplace Safety & Insurance Act Date Originated: January 30, 2009 Date Revised: Approval: Chief Administrati cer t Point of Contact: Coordinator, Health & Safety Procedure Objective The objective of this Procedure is to: 1. create and maintain a Health & Safety bulletin board in each workplace and work area by which information relating to occupational health and safety matters can be clearly and easily communicated to all employees; and 2. ensure that all information required to be posted on a Health & Safety bulletin board by the Occupational Health & Safety Act or the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act is so posted. Index 01 Definitions 02 Procedures 01 Definitions No Definitions. 02 Procedures 02.01 Location of Health & Safety Bulletin Board A Health & Safety bulletin board shall be located in each workplace, or where a workplace is sufficiently large that employees work in separate areas of such workplace, in each work area within such a workplace. The Health & Safety bulletin board must be clearly marked as such. It must be located in a place where employees regularly congregate, or a place where every employee has regular access. An eye wash kit must also be located at or next to the Health & Safety bulletin board. 02.02 Information to be Posted on the Health & Safety Bulletin Board No items other than those described in this section may be posted on the Health & Safety bulletin board. Each Health & Safety bulletin board must contain the following information: a) the name of the person responsible for the first aid kit in the work area, and the name of an alternate person in the event that the primary person is absent from work or unavailable; b) the names and contact numbers for all first aid attendants and first responders in the work area; c) a copy of a current poster of the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board, Form 82, as supplied by the WSIB; d) a full copy of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and a copy of the regulation under that Act pertaining to Industrial Establishments (or, where applicable, a copy of the regulation pertaining to Constructions Projects). e) a copy of the City of Pickering's general Health & Safety Policy; Procedure Title: Health and Safety Bulletin Board Page 2 of 3 Procedure Number: HUR 130-014 f) the names of all members of the Joint Health & Safety Committee representing the workplace, with identification of the work location and contact information for each; g) the names of Certified Members of the Joint Health & Safety Committee representing the workplace; h) copies of the minutes and reports of inspections from the most recent meeting of the Joint Health & Safety Committee; i) copies of any orders issued by the Ministry of Labour under the Occupational Health & Safety Act, or by any other enforcement agency; 1) material Safety Data Sheets for chemicals or other materials used at the worksite; and k) all other relevant information about occupational health and safety that may be pertinent to employees. 02.03 Regular Review and Maintenance of the Health & Safety Bulletin Board Each Health & Safety bulletin board shall be reviewed and maintained by an administrative support person in the work area designated for this purpose. The Coordinator, Health & Safety shall also periodically review the Health & Safety bulletin boards in all worksites of the City of Pickering to ensure that information on the bulletin board complies with this interdepartmental procedure and with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act.
