DETAILED COMMENTS ON THE DURHAM REGIONAL OFFICIAL PLAN

In Pl anni ng Report 4/91, it is recommended that the Regi on
of Durham be requested to tabl e Regi onal Pl anni ng
Commissioner1s Report 91-P-l until the concerns and issues
raised by the Town of Pickering have been resolved.

Dave Bass, RJD Consulting Services Ltd., addressed the
Committee on behalf of two clients; the Anstey property at
the southwest corner of Al tona Road and Fi nch Avenue and
the Pi stri tto property on Brock Road, south of Concessi on
3. He requested support from the Committee for revi si ons
to the proposed Official Plan to include the Anstey
property in the urban area and to designate the Pistritto
property as a Commercial Regional Node. He also expressed
concern with respect to the Open Space designation between
the urban area of Pickering and the proposed Seaton
development. He feels this will philosophically create two
separate communiti es whi ch wi 11 result in increased
servicing costs for transit and recreational facilities.

That the Planning Committee of the Town of Pickering having met on
March 21, 1991, presents its second report to Council and recommends:
1. DETAILED COMMENTS ON THE DURHAM REGIONAL OFFICIAL PLAN
FILE NUMBER - A 2240
That Town Council request the Regional Planning Committee
to revise the current timetable of the Official Plan Review
to allow additional time for the concerns and issues raised
by the Town of Pickering to be resolved.
