THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PI ERING
BY-LAW LUMBER
Being a By-lava of the Corporation of
the Town of Pickering to require the
holding of an election to fill the
vacancy in the office of local
councillor in Ward
WHEREAS pursuant to subsection t1', of section 45,
of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, C.284, as arended, there
a vacancy occurs in the office of a mer.:ber of the Council
of a local municipality, the Council may by by-law require
an election to be held to fill vacancy;
AND WHEREAS a vacancy has occurred on the Council
of The Corporation of the Town of Pickering by virtue of tl:e

NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corpo?atictn of
the Town of Pickering hereby enacts as follcws:
1. An election shall be held to fill the vacancy
in the position of local councillor in Vard
as successor to Councillor ?4'

A By-law to confirm the proceedings
of the Council of the Corporation of
the Town of Pickerinc at its meeting
held on the
20th day c` June 1977

WHEREAS by Section 9 of the`Y.Unicipal Act, being
Chapter 284 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario, 1970,
the powers of a municipal corporation are to be exercised
by its Council;
AND WHEREAS by Subsection I of Section 241 of the Municipal
Act, being Chapter 284 of the Revised Statutes of Ontario,
1970, the powers of every Council are to be exercised
by By-law;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the proceedings
of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering
at these meetings be confirmed and adapted by By-law;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWrF'
OF PICKERING ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1.- The action of the Council of the Corporation of the
Town of Pickering at its meeting held on the 20th day
of June 1977 in respect of each recomm-
enuat-ioncontained in- tt e?Reports of the Committees
and each motion and resolution Passed and other action
taken by the Council of the Corporation of the Town
of Picker-Fri at this meeting, is hereby adopted and
confirme as if all such proceedings were expressly
embodied in this By-law;
2. The 4ayor and proper officials of the Corporation of
the-Town of Pickering are hereby authorized and
directed to do all things necessary to give effect to
the action of the Council of the Corporation of the
Town cif Pickering referred to in the preceding
section hereof;
3. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed
to execute all documents necessary in that behalf
and to affix thereto the Seal of the Corporation of
the.Town of Pickering.
