HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 623/77 REPEALS AMENDED AMENDS DISPOSITION 3- C(c THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER ?cT ? t Being a By-law to amend: By-law Number 3941 prohibiting the parking or leaving of motor vehicles on private property WHEREAS By-law Number 3901, ;,rtzsed by the Council of the Corporation of the Township (now Town) of Pickering on November 2nd, 197u prohibits the parking or leaving of motor vehicles on private property with authority from the owner or occupant of such property and provides for renoval and impounding of any vehicles so narked or left at the expense of the owi_er thereof; WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to amend By-law Number 3901 in certain respects; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOIVIN OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. Section 3 of By-law Number 3901 is hereby revoked "nd the following substituted therefor: Upon the complaint in writing of the owner, occupant or agent of the owner or occupant or any adult resident of any private property upon which a motor vehicle is parked, or left without the authority of the owner, occupant or agent of the owner or occupant of such private property, a Constable or Officer appointed for the carrying out of the provisions of The Highway Traffic Act, c:r the By-law Enforcement Officer, may upon discovery of a motor vehicle so parked or left, cause such motor vehicle to be moved or taken to and placed in a suitable place, and all costs and charges for removing, care and storage thereof, if any, shall be a lien upon the vehicle, which may be enforced in the manner providers b?y Section 48 of The Mechanic's Lien Act, or any successor thereto. 2 2 Clause (b) of section 7 of the said By-law is hereby revoked and the following substituted therefor: The driver or owner of a motor vehicle narked or left on private property shall not be liable to a penalty or to have the motor vehicle removed front such property or impounded under this By-Lava except upon the written complaint of the owner, occupant or agent of the owner or occupant or any adult resident of the property. 3. Section 8 of the said By-law is hereby emended by deleting the words "Two Dollars ($2.00)" in the fifth line thereof and by substituting therefor the words "F"ive Dollars ($5.00)".
