A By-law of the Corporation of the
Township of Pickering to provide
for the charging of a penalty on
Interim Tax Billing.
WHEREAS By-law 3607 passed on the 2Oth day of January, 1969, provided
for the collection of taxes levied on real property for general purposes,
school purposes or for local improvement rates, etc., and
WHEREAS By-law 3607 does not distinguish between regular and interim
tax billing with respect to penalties imposed for non-payment of taxes,
and
WHEREAS By-law 3607 imposes a one percent penalty charge on any instal-
ment or part thereof remaining unpaid after the due date of each
instalment, and
WHEREAS the charges of one percent penalty on interim tax billing which
remains unpaid after the due dates named is not permitted by law,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that Council amend By-law 3607 to comply with
the provisions of The Municipal Act Section 29~A (3) and provide that
a penalty not exceeding one half of one percent be levied against all
taxes or instalments which remain unpaid after the due dates of the
interim tax instalmen~ namely:
February 17, 1969
April 15, 1969
June 15, 1969
This shall apply to the interim billing only.

3rd day of February , 1969.
