BY-LAW NUMBER
A By-law to provide for an interim levy.
WHEREAS Section 294 (a) of The Municipal Act, Chapter
249, R.S.0., 1960 as amended, provides for an interim levy of a
sum not exceeding 50% of that which would be produced by applying
to the assessment roll the total rate for all purposes levied in
the proceeding year on residential property of public school
supporters;
AND WHEREAS Subsection 1 {a) of the said Section 294
(a) provides for an interim levy on the whole of the business
assessment according to the last revised assessment roll a sum
not exceeding 50~ of that which would be produced by applying to
such assessment the total rate for all purposes levied in the
proceeding year on business assessment of public school supporters;
NOW THEREFORE THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF
PICKERING ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. On the first day of January next in the year of our
Lord, 1969, and each succeeding year therefore, the Treasurer as
duly appointed of the Corporation of the Township of Picketing
be and is hereby authorized to issue an interim tax demand not
to exceed 50% of that which would be produced by applying to the
assessments as revised the total rate for all purposes levied in
the proceeding year on residential, agricultural, commercial,
manufacturing and industrial and together with the business
assessment thereto.
2. This By-law shall deem to come into force and effect
upon the day of passing.
READ a FIRST, SECOND and THIRD time and PASSED in open Council
