HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 3410 CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 5 A By-law to retain Claremont Village as the Police Village of Claremont for the purpose of assessment of telephone- telegraph receipts. WHEREAS the Police Village of Claremont by order of the Ontario Municipal Board ceases to exist as a Police Village as at January l, 1968, as provided for under Part XXII of the Municipal Act (R.S.O. 1960), AND WHEREAS every telephone and telegraph company carrying on business in the area defined and set out in an Agreement dated March 9, 1908, establishing the Police Village of Claremont, is assessed on the basis of gross receipts, AND WHEREAS section 12 {1) of the Assessment Act R.S.O. 1960 C 23 as amended from time to time provides for the creation of Police Villages for the purposes of this section, NOW THEREFORE, the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Picketing enacts as follows: 1. That the limits of the Police Village of Cla remont as set out in an Agreement dated March 9, 1908, Schedule 'A, hereto attached, be and are hereby the limits of the Police Village of Claremont for the purpose of this section. See 12 Chap. 23 R.S.O. 1960 as may be amended from time to time. 2. This By-law shall come into force and effect on the day it has received the approval of the Department of Municipal Affairs.
