HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 3218 THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING Being a by-law to establish a Public Library for the Township of Pickering Whereas The Public Libraries Act, R.S.O. 1960, Chap. 325 and The Public A~ibraries Act, 1966, Chap. 120, provides that where a public library heretofore established for a police village is being operated, the Council of the municipality in which the public library of the police village is situate shall establish a public library, and on the day the board for such public library is organized, the public library board of the police village is dissolved and its assets and liabilities become assets arkd liabilities of the public library board of the municipality. And Whereas "The Claremont Public Library" is a public library established for the Police Village of Claremont; NOW THEREFORE be it duly enacted by the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering; 1. THAT a Public Library be established in accordance with the provisions of The Public Libraries Act and amendments thereto and the same is hereby established and shall be known as "The Township of Pickering Public Library". 2. THAT a Public Library Board be and is hereby established for the whole of the Township of Picketing, same to become effective on the First day of January, 1967. 3. THAT the Council of the Township of Pickering shall make the necessary appointments to the Board by resolution of Council. -2- 4. THAT By-law ~37,~of The Corporation of the Township of Pickering pertaining to "The Claremont Public Library" be and is hereby repealed effective on the Thirty-first day of December, 1966. 5. THAT this by-law shall come into full force and effect on the First day of January, 1967. READ a first and second time this 6, day of . ~_~ , 1966.
