HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 3075 BY-LAW NUMBER A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO CLASSIFY TOWNSHIP STAFF POSITIONS. WHEREAS positions of Township employees are classified according to l'evels of responsibility, difflculty and education required; The Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Township of Picketing ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. Each employee of the municipality shall be provided with a copy of a description of the work he is expected to perform and the facts regarding his work which are used as a basis of evaluating the position he ~ills. 2. If a new position is to be created, the supervisor concerned will provide the Clerk-Administrator with such facts regarding the proposed position as will enable him to classify the position for~y and write a position description. The position description will be the basis of advertising for and filling the position. 3. An employee who believes that his position has been improperly or inadequately classified for pay may submit in writing directly to the Clerk-Administrator a request for a re-examination of his classification. The written request will specify those parts of his written position description which he believes ape at fault. 4. The Clerk-Administrator, after having re-studied the position description and resultant classification, will either: (a) re-write the position description and re-classify it for pay, or ...... (b) deliver a written statement to the complainant giving his reasons as justification of the existing classification. 5. An employee may appeal ~rom a decision rendered as in 5(b) above. The appeal will be heard by an ad-hoc Board o~ Appeal consisting of a representative appointed by the applicant, the head of a department other than that in which the applicant is employed and who is selected by the Clerk-Administrator, and a member of Council designated by the Reeve. The decision of the Board of Appeal shall be final. The applicant may designate, without restriction to employment or other qualification, a person to represent him before the Board. The Clerk-Administrator will represent the administration or appoint someone to repres- ent the administration. B. Any significant reorganization of work om assignment of duties by a supervisor must be reported to the Clerk- Administrator to ensure that the proper classification of positions is maintained.
