A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO EXEMPT
CERTAIN FARM LANDS FROM TAXATION FOR CERTAIN EXPENDITURES OF THE
MUNICIPALITY,
WHEREAS Chapter 23, Section 37, of the Assessment Act, provides
~ exemption of certain farm lands from taxation for ex-
penditures incurred by the Township of Picketing for fire'
protection;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to grant such exemption;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED hy the Municipal Council of the Cbrporation
of the Township of Picketing:
1. THAT this By-Law shall apply to lands in the Township of
Picketing held and used as farm lands only and in blocks of
not less than five acres by any one person.
2. Lands described by Paragraph 1 of this By-Law are hereby
exempted from expenditures for fire protection to the extent
of 90% (per cent) of the assessed value of such lands.
3. The said exemption shall not apply to the assessed value
of any buildings on any lands.
