A By-law to authorize the construction of
a watermain on the streets set out herein
as a local improvement under the provisions
of The Local Improvement Act.
I~ETEREAS it is expedient that the construction of the
work herein shall be undertaken as a local improvement and
notice of the intention of Council to undertake such work has
been published.
NOW THEREFORE The Council of The Corporation of the
a~ownship of Pickering Enacts as follows:
1o Ihat a watermain be constructed on Fairport Road from
Vistula Drive to the Road Allowance between Range 111 and Con-
cession 1, and on the Road Allowance between Range 111 and Con-
cession 1 from Fairport Road to the West limit of Lot 29, Range
111, in the Township of Pickering, at an estimated cost of
~100,947.00, as a local improvement under the provisions of
The Local Improvement Act. The owner's share of the said cost
will be ~I36~710.00 based on a special rate of ~4.75 per foot
frontage of the lands abutting directly upon the work and the
remainder of the cost of such work will be borne by the Corpor-
ation.
2. That the sum oft~52,140.00 of the share to be borne
by 'the Corporation be paid by the Corporation without the issue
of debentures and that the balance of the share to be borne by
the Corporation, ~12,097.00, together with the owner's share
of the cost of the work, i~36,710.OO, be paid bM~the issuance
of debentures bearing interest at the rate of ~per annum
by 20 annual instalments·
· That the sum of ~¢12,097.00 of the share to be borne
~by the Corporation and paid by the issuance of debentures is
to be charged against all the land in the Defined Water Area ?a~.
of the Township of Picketing as set out in By-law Number 2490
as amended.

porary advances of money to meet the cost of the work pending
the completion thereof.

~ ~,~ 5. The Engineer of the Corporation is hereby authorized
l/~to make such plans~ profiles and specifications and furnish
such information as may be necessary for the making of contracts~
for the doing of the work or for carrying out the same by day
labour and the work shall be carried on and executed under the
superintendence and according to the directions and orders of
the said Engineer·
· Any person whose lot is specially assessed may corn-
~ mute by a payment in cash the special rate imposed by paying
the costs of construction assessed upon such lot without the
interest forthwith after the Special Assessment Roll has been
certified by the Clerk but may not commute after the Debenture
By-law has been passed.
