OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSttIP OF PICKERING
BEING a By-law to amend By-law No. 1910 passed the 21st day of
May, 1952, to secure street lighting for Harwood Road.
WHEREAS by said By-law No. 1910~ 60% of the cost of operating
'su--~ street lighting was to be borne by the owners of the property
of lands abutting Harwood Road equally and the balance of 40% was
to be borne by the Corporation of the Township of Pickering;
AND WHEREAS it is desired to amend said By-law No. lB10 to provide
that the 1U0% of the cost of operating such street lighting after
the 1st day of January, 1962, be borne by the owners ~
of lands abutting Harwood Road; and that such costs be levied as
a mill rate on taxes rather than by an equal share basis;
NOW THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the
Township of Picketing enacts as follows:
THAT paragraph 2 of By-law No. 1910 aforesaid reading:
"THAT 60% of the cost of operating such street lights be borne by
the owners of property whose lands abut said Harwood Road in equal
shares of money and such money shall be recoverable by the municipality
yearly on tax bills. The balance of 40% shall be borne by the Township
from general funds."
be amended to read:
"THAT as of January 1, 1962, 100% of the cost of operating such street
lights shall be borne by the owners of property whose lands abut
said Harwood Road between the Town of Ajax and Number 2 Highway and
such costs shall be raised, levied and collected by an annual special
mill rate as municipal taxes on such owners."
