BEING A BY-LAW 'lO AMEN]) AN AGREEMENT WITH TIlE HYDRO-ELECfRIC
POWER COMMISSION FOR SUPPLYING STREET LIGH£ING FOR IHE HAMLEf
OF GREENWOOD.
WHEREAS by By-Law Number 1244, passed on the 4th day of August,
1928, the Corporation of the Township of Pickering was authorized
to enter into a general agreement with the Hydro-Electric Power
Commission of Ontario for the lighting o£ streets in the ~ownship
of Picke ring;
AND WHEREAS since 1928 the Hamlet o£ Greenwood has been a separate
street lighting area and 60~ of the costs incurred for such street
lighting with respect to the area has been borne by certain
properties in the area~ based on a share basis, and 40~ of said
costs have been paid by the Township from general funds;
AND WHEREAS it is desirable that all the properties in the area
be charged for this service on an assessment basis, and that
such owners pay 100~ o£ the costs;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation o£ the Township o£
Pickering ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT the Greenwood Street Lighting Area shall comprise all
the properties as set out on Schedule "A" which forms part
o£ this by-law.
2. THAi' all property within the said street lighting area shall
pay 100~o o£ the costs o£ street lights for the area,
commencing January 1, 1962.
