HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2641 B Y - L A W N U M B E R 'A'~t A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO PROVIDE FOR THE VOTING BY THE ZLECTORS, QUALIFIED TO VOTE ON MONEY MATTERS~ ON A BY-LAW 0F THE TOWNSHIP AUTHORIZING THE TOWNSHIP COUNCIL TO PURCHASE LAND FOR INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT. BE IT ENACTEDby the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering that: 1. The Council be and is hereby authorized from time to time to pass by-laws for the acquisition or expropriation of land within the Township of Pickeming and for the selling om leasing of such land for the purpose of sites for the establishment and carrying on of industries and industrial operations and for the borrowing of money from time to time for that purpose to an amount not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00) 2. Section 1 of this by-law shall come into force only with the assent of the electors qualified to vote on money by-laws, such assent to be obtained in the manner hereinafter set forth. There shall be submitted to such electors on Saturday December 9, 1961, a ballot reading: "Do you assent to By-Law Number ~/ of the Township of Pickering authorizing the Counc~--~to pass by-laws from time to t~me for the acquiring or expropriating of land for industrial sites and for borrowing money for that purpose not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of $100,000.007" 4. The vote on the said By-Law shall be taken at the same hour,at the same places and by the same Deputy Returning Officers as for the ~ Municipal Elections on Saturday, Decen~er 9, 1961. 5. The procedure to be taken for such vote shall, with such variations as may be necessary, be the procedure prescribed for use in voting at the Municipal Elections. 6. Thursday, the 7th day of December, 1961, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon at the Clerk's Office in the Municipal Building shall be the time and place for the appointment by the Reeve of persons to attend at the various polling places and at the final summing up of the votes by the Clerk on behalf of the persons interested in and promoting or opposing the voting in the affirmative or negative on the ?. The Clerk of the said Corporation shall attend at the Municipal Building at the hour of Ten o'clock a. m. on Monday the llth day of December, 1961, to sum up the number of votes given i~ the affirmative and in the negative upon the said ~~- BY-LAW read a First and Second time this ay of_~/~2,.~ & 1961 BY-LAW read a Thimd time and PASSED this~ay of ?j~3.tm~/~ ~ 1961
