HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2639 B Y - L A W N U M B E R ~3.~/ A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OP THE TOWNSHIP OF PI~KERING TO REGULATE SEWAGE TREATMENT CHARGES WITHIN THE SEWER AREA NO. 1 OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING. WHEREAS Section 380 of The Municipal Act authorizes Council to impose upon owners or occupants of land who use sewage works a sewage service rate; AND WHEREAS Council has by By-Law No. 2489 defined Sewer Area No. 1 of the Township of Pickering and by By-Law No. 2505 defined the type, strength and quantity of Sewage which may enter a public sewer; BE IT ENACTED by the Municipal Corporation of the Township of Pickering that: 1. The cost of sewage treatment be recovered from those premises connected to the sewerage system. 2. The Sewage Service Rates for DOMESTIC users in Sewer Area No. 1 shall be a flat rate of $22.00 (Dollars twenty-two only) per year per dwelling unit. New dwellings occupied after January let in any year shall be rated at $1.84 (one dollar and eighty-four cents) per month or part thereof per dwelling unit from the date of occupation. ¢,~~ , 3. (a) The sewage service rates for Commercial and ~ users shall be based on the quantity of water consumed on the premises according to the water meter readings and shall be as follows: Sewage Service Billing Minimum Net Bill for Rate Period Bill Prompt payment 55.6. Cents 3 months $5.56 $ 5.00.~ per 1000 ~'gallon~ gross. Less 10% for prompt paym~t. (b) The time limit to take advantage of the reduced bill fo~ prompt payment shall be the 20th day of the respective billing month. (c) There shall be 4 (four) billing months in a calendar year, and such billing period shall be 3 (three) calendar months or part thereof. 4. Commercial and Industrial Usemsmay install a meter, approved by the Township Engineer, at the point of entry to the Public Sewer from their premises and this reading shall constitute the quantity of sewage for basing ~he sewage service charges at the rates described in section ~(a) of this By-Law. 5. (a) The W~~t shall collect.C~mme~ ~ --~ - 'at Sewage Service Char~es in a manner similar to the billing and collection of taxes. 6. This By-Law shall'~ecome effective from January let, 1962. 7. By-Law No. 2585 is hereby repealed and any other By-Law which is contrary to the provisions of this By-Law shall be repealed insofar as may be necessary to give full effect to this By-Law.
