HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2637 B Y - L A W N U M B E R ~;~ A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO PROVIDE FOR VOTING ON ~HE QUESTION OF SUNDAY MOVING PICTURES~ THEATRICAL PERFORMANCES, CONCERTS AND LECTURES. WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the question hereinafter set ~6~-~e submitted to a vote of the electors qualified to vote for council at the next Municipal Elections; THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Picketing ~ FOLLOWS: 1. There shall be submitted to the electors entitled to vote for Council in the Township of Pickering (each elector being entitled to vote once only)~ at the annual Municipal Elections to be held on Saturday~ the Ninth day of December, 1961, the following question: "Are you in favour of moving pictures~ drive-in theatres, theatrical performances, concerts and lectures after 1:30 o'clock in the afternoon of the Lord's Day to be regulated by Municipal By-Law under the authority of the Lord's Day (Ontario) Act, 1960-19617" 2. The vote on the said question shall be taken at the same hour at the same places and by the same Deputy Returning Officers as for the said Municipal Elections. 3. The procedure to be taken for such vote shall, with such variations as may be negessary, be the procedure prescribed for use in voting at the annual Municipal Elections. 4. Thursday, the 7th day of December, 1961~ at 10 o'clock in the forenoon at the Clerk's Office in the Municipal Building shall be the time and place for the appointment by the Reeve of persons to attend at the various polling places and at the final summing up of the votes by the Clerk on behalf of the persons interested in and promoting or opposing the voting in the affirmative or negative on the question. 5. The Clerk of the said Corporation sh~_l attend at the Municipal Building at the hour of Ten o'clock~mn on Monday~ the llth day of December, 1961, to sum up the number of votes given in the affirmative and in the negative upon the said question.
