A BY-LAW OF THE MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING
TO PROVIDE FOR A VOTE BEING TAKEN OF THE ELECTORS ON THE QUESTION,
"ARE YOU IN FAVOUR OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING
PUBLIC LIBRARY?"
WHEREAS certain residents of the Township of Picketing have sub-
mm--~a petition of at least 60 electors asking Council to
provide for a vote of the electors on a Township of Pickering
Public Library;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Township
o~ Picketing as follows:
'~ 1. In this By-Law "electors" shall mean persons entitled to
vote on Money By-Laws.
2. The area of the Township of Pickering Public Library shall
~comprise the whole of the Township of Pickering.
~3. The votes of the Electors shall be taken on the said
question on the Ninth day of December, A.D., 1961, between the
hours of 10 o'clock in the forenoon and seven o'clock in the
afternoon, at the various Polling Booths at the same time and
· place as the Municipal Elections are held.
4. On the 7th day of December, A.D. 1961, at the hour of 10
o'clock in the forenoon, the Head of the Council of the said
Corporation, or some member of the said Council appointed for t hat
purpose by resolution, shall attend at the office of the Clerk
of the said Municipality, in the Village of Brougham, for the
purpose of appointing, and if requested so to do, shall
appoint by writing, two persons to attend the final summing
up of the votes by the Clerk - one person to attend on behalf of
the person entrusted in the voting in the affirmative on the
said question, and a like number on behalf of the persons
interested in and voting in the negative on the said question.
5, On the llth day of December, A.D. 1961, at the hour of 10
o'clock in the forenoon, at the office of the Clerk of the
Municipality, the Clerk shall attend and sum up the votes
given in the affirmative and negative on the said question.
