HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2616 BY-LAW NUHBE R 2616 A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSBIP OF PICKERING TO PROVIDE FOR A TWO YEAR TEP~f FOR MEMBEBS OF THE TOWNSHIP COUNCIL. WHEREAS on October 26, 1960, Council passed By-Law No. 2545, which permitted a vote of the electors of the Township of Picketing to vote on the question, "Are you in favour of a two year term for members of the Municipal Council, starting with the 1962 Council?" AND ~I-I~. ~S the result of' the poll held on December 3, 1960, on such question was "FOR - 1725o AGAINST ~ 1238"; AND Wh~It~S subsection i of section fig of The Municipal Act provides, "Notwithstanding any general or Special Act, the Council of a loeal municipality may by by-law provide that there- after the term of office of members of the Council of the municipality shall be two years; BE IT THEHEFOHE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Corpor- ation of the Township of Picketing that commencing with the 1961 elections for the 1962 Council, such Council members elected or acclaimed shall thereafter sit for a two year term. read a First and Second time this/..~of~______ day of 1961 BY-LAW
