A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING DESIGNATING
THROUGH HIGHWAYS IN THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING AND TO AMEND PART OF
BY-LAW NUMBER 1904.
WHEREAS Section 41 sub-section 3 of The Highway Traffic Act R.S.O.
1950 provides that:
The operator or driver of every vehicle or oar of an electric railway
shall before entering or crossing a through highway bring the vehicle
or car to a full stop immediately before entering the nearest crosswalk,
"Through Highways" means any highway or part of a highway designated
as such by the Minister or by By-Law of a municipality approved by
the Department, and every such highway shall be marked to comply with
the regulations of the Department.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The following highways and parts of highways in the Township of
Pickering are designated as "Through Highways".

THAT By-Law Number 1904 passed May 5, 1952, and approved by the
Department of Highways May 19, 1952, be amended to read:
CLAUSE 1(b )
reading "Pickering Beach Road from No. 2 Highway to south side of
Range Line"
to
Pickering Beach Road from 50 feet south of Concession 1 Line to
lake Ontario."
CIAUSE 1(d)
reading "Pickering Station Road from No. 2 Highway to south side of
Rnage line" be deleted, due to the County of Ontario taking over and
assuming part of Concession 1 as a County "Through" Road.
CLAUSE 1(¢)
reading "Base Line Road from Scarborough Town Line to Rouge Hills
Drive and Rouge Hills Drive from Base Line Road to south side of
West Point Crescent" be amended to read:
Base Line Road now known as Island Road be a through street from 50
feet east of Department of Highways "Stop" sign at Lansing Cloverleaf
to a point 50 feet east of Rouge Hills Drive, thus creating two four
way stops, one at Island Road and East Avenue, and the other at Rouge
Hills Drive and Island Road.
3. This By-Law shall not become effective until approved by the Department
of Highways and until signs have been erected and are on display in
compliance with the regulations of the said Department.
4. THAT By-Law Number 2415 be and the same is hereby
