A BY-LAW OF THE ~FUNICIPALITY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO LEVY A
RATE TO COVER COST OF OPERATION OF THE SEVERAL FIBE DEPARTHENTS, IN
THE YEAR 1959.
~IEREAS under By-I~w Ntanber 1823 a FIRE AREA was created, comprising
Lots N~mbers 24 to 35 inclusive, and under By-Law Number 2098 the
area was amended to cover lots 22 to 35 inclusive, from Lake Ontario
to half way between Concessions No. 3 and No. 4, known as FIRE .A~EA
NUMBER ONE, and has an assessment of ~ 7,516,217.00;
AND WHEREA~ under By-Law Number 2267 E~RE A~.EA _.N~_ER TWO was created
taking in all the lands south of Highway 401 in Lots 1 to 6 inclusive
and the 1958 assessment is $ 501,070.00;
AND ~tEREAS the remaining part of the Township secares protection from
the Police Village of Claremont and Stouffville, Ajax, Picketing Village
and Brougham Fire Brigades;
AND WHEREAS the assessment for the Police Village of Claremont for the
year 1958 is $ 434,838,79, and as they own their local fire fighting
equipment are exempt from further levy;
A~D ~HEREAS the assessment of the Municipality, excluding Fire Areas
Numbers One and Two, and the Police Village of Claremont, is
$ 7,085,541.61;
AND WHEREA~ Fire Area Number One requires the sum of ~ ~ ~ ~
and Fire Area Number Two requires the sj~m of . .~e ~.O o and the
remaining area requires the sum of~_~for "THE OPERATION OF
FIRE EQUIPMENT" for the year 1959;
BE IT THEREFORE E.NAC~ED by the Municipal Council of the Township of
Picketing:
1. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon
,. all the rateable property in FIRE AP, EA ~ER ONE in the year
1959, the ~.te or sum of ~.~ ~Ltlls on the Dollar, amounting to
$ ~ ~ ~.. for the aforesaid purpose in the said year.
2. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon all
the rateable property in FI~E A~EA NUMBER TWO in the year 1959,
/ the rate or sum of ..~-. ~Lills on the ~ollar, amounting to
$ ~.A~ for the aforesaid purpose in the said year.
3. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon all the
rateable property in the Municipality, excluding FIRE AREAS NUM2ERS
ONE AND TWO and the VIr.r~GE OF CIAREMO~T, the rate or sum of ~ ~
~lls on the Dollar, amounting to..~$e ~.~ . for the aforesaid
purposes in the said year.
