A BY-LAW OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO EXTEND THE PERIOD IN WHICH
HALF LOADS ONLY MAY BE DRAWN BY TRUCKS ON TOWNSHIP ROADS.
BE IT ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Township of Pickering
that:
1. As provided in Section 36(8) of the Highway Traffic Act, the
period in which trucks may not be permitted to carry a greater
load than 50% of their licensed capacity is extended from the
March 1st to April 30th period to May 15th for the year 1957.
2. Any person who violates any of the provisions of this section
shall be liable for the first offence to a penalty of not less
than $ 10.00 and not more than $ 50; for the second offence to
a penalty of not less than $ 20.00 and not more than $ 100.00
and in addition his licence or permit may be suspended for a period
of not more than thirty days; and for any subsequent offence shall
be liable to a penalty of not less than $ 50.00 and not more
than $ 200.00 and shall also be liable to imprisonment for a
term of not more than thirty days and in addition his licence
or permit may be suspended for a period of not more than six
months.
