HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2167B Y LAW NUMBER ?-/`I A BY-LAW OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING TO REGULATE THE EXCAVATIONS FOR BUILDING. i G -WHEREAS excavations for building are often abandoned and the hole when filled with water is dangerous; AND WHEREAS chapter 2430 section 3880 sub section 80, provides that Councils may pass By-Laws "for requiring and regulating the filling up, draining, cleaning, clearing of any grounds, yards and vacant lots and the altering, relaying or repairing of private drains"; BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Township of Pickering that: No person may permit an excavation for a building on his property to be made and left in a dangerous condition. /1 2. Any person found guilty of a breach of this By-law shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not exceeding $300.00 (Three Hundred) Dollars, exclusive of costs, recoverable under the Ontario Summary Convictions Act, and in default of payment of such fine and costs, shall be liable to imprisonment in the Common Gaol of the County of Ontario for a period of not exceeding twenty- one (21) days.
