HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2147B Y- L A W N U M B E R 2 1 4 7 A By-law to appoint a Treasurer for the Municipality of the Township of Pickering. WHEREAS By-law Number 2008 appointed DOUGLAS J. PLITZ Assistant Treasurer for the Township of Pickering; AND WHEREAS it is now considered necessary to relieve Lloyd T. Johnston, Clerk-Treasurer, of the duties of Treasurer: BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED 1. That DOUGLAS J. PLITZ be, and he is hereby appointed, Treasurer of this Municipality. 2. The Treasurer shall receive and safely keep all money of the Corporation, and shall pay out the same to such persons and in such a manner as the laws of Ontario and the by-laws or resolutions of the Council direct. 3. The Treasurer shall open an account in the name of the Corporation in such of the chartered banks of Canada or at such other place of deposit as may be approved by the Council, and shall deposit to the credit of such account all money received by him on account of the Corporation, and he shall keep the money of the said Corporation entirely separate from his own money. 4. The Treasurer shall in each year,within the time prescribed, make return to the Department on forms provided by it, of such information and statistics with respect to the financial affairs accounts and transactions of the Municipality as the Department may prescribe. The Treasurer shall receive a list of all uncollected taxes from the Clerk of the Municipality each year, accept all payments on such taxes and deposit to the credit of the Corporation. The Treasurer shall hold a tax sale each year as prescribed by the Statutes, unless otherwise directed by Council. The Treasurer shall prepare and submit to the Council, half yearly, a statement of the money at the credit of the Corporation. In all other respects the duties of the said Treasurer shall be as prescribed by the Municipal Act and other statutory laws. T bite said Tressmel She-11 I 0.
