A BY-LAW OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING, TO LEVY
A RATE TO COVER COST OF OPERATION OF THE SEVERAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS.
WHEREAS under By-law No. 1823 a FIRE AREA was created, comprising
Lots No. 24 to 35 inclusive, and under By-law Number 2098 the area
was amended to cover Lots 22 to 35 inclusive, from Lake Ontario to
half way between Concessions No. 3 and No. 4, known as FIRE AREA
NUMBER ONE, and has an assessment of $4,479,287.26;
AND WHEREAS the remaining part of the Township secures protection
from the olice Village of Claremont and Stouffville, Ajax and PicK4R,N4
Brougham Fire Brigades; ?I&AIAC/
AND WHEREAS the assessment for the Police Village of Claremont for
TFe year-1-956 is $360,975.10, and as they own their local fire-
fighting equipment are exempt from further levy;
AND WHEREAS the assessment of the Municipality, excluding Fire Area
Number One,, and the Police Village of Claremont, is $5,992,852.79;
AND WHEREAS Fire Area Number One requires the sum of $ L Zr .0 0
and the remaining area requires the sum of 8 34oa. o o f{?"THE OPERATION OF FIRE EQUIPMENT" for the year 1956;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Township of
F ker ing:-
1. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon
all the rateable property in FIRE AREA NUMBER ONE in the
year 1956,' the rate or sum of -Mills /•S`

said year.
2. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon
all the rateable property in the Municipality, excluding
FIRE AREA NUMBER ONE and the VILLAGE OF CLAREMONT, the
rate or sum of .G 1. Mills on the Dollar, amounting to
$3SQ.3;9/ for the aforesaid purposes in the said year.
