HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 2086BY-LAW NUMBER 2o8c OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING being a by-law to license and regulate the owners of public garages within the Township of Pickering pursuant to the provisions of paragraph 121 of subsection (1) of section 388 of The Municipal Act, R. S. 0. 19500 chapter 243, and amendments thereto. BE IT ENACTED AND IT IS HEREBY ENACTED as a by-law of The Corporation of the Township of Pickering by the Council thereof as follows: 1. In this by-law "public garage" shall mean a public garage as defined by clause (a) of paragraph 121 of subsection (1) of section 388 of The Municipal Act, R. S. 0. 1950, chapter 243, and amendments thereto. 2. (1) No owner of a public garage shall operate the same or permit the same to be operated within the corporate limits of the Township of Pickering without first obtaining a license so to do. (2) Any application for a license to operate a public garage shall be made to the Council of the Township of Pickering and a license shall be issued by the Clerk of the Township of Pickering only on the instructions of the Council. (3) Any license to operate a public garage shall expire on the 31st day of December of the year in which it is issued but may be renewed by the Clerk from year to year in the absence of instructions to the contrary from the Council. (4) Any license to operate a public garage shall be transferable. (5) The fee to be paid for a license to operate a public garage shall be llz_- dollars. 3. Any person who contravenes any provision of this by-law shall incur a penalty not exceeding $50.00, exclusive of costs, and such penalty shall be recoverable under The Summary Convictions Act$ all the provisions of which shall apply except that the imprisonment 2 _ may be for any term not exceeding twenty-one days.
