a. BY-LAW TO ASSESS THE MUNICIPALITY OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICK01ING FOR THE
IMPROVEMENT AND REPAIR OF ROADS AND BRIDGES, PAYMENT OF SALARIES, THE
GENERAL EXPENSES OF THE CORPORATIONS, TO DEFRAY THE COST OF WELFARE, FOR
THIS MUNICIPALITYIS SHARE OF THE COST OF ROADS AND GENERAL PURPOSES OF
THE COUNTY OF ONTARIO AND TO PAY THE TOWNSHIPS SHARE OF THE COST OF
OPERATIONS OF THE PICKERING DISTRICT HIGH SC11001, BOARD FOR THE YEAR 1.955.
WHERriS it will require the sum of ;972926.69 from the Municipality of
the Township of Pickering for the improvement and repair of roads and
bridges, the payment of salaries and the general expenses of the Muni-
cipality, in the year 1955;
AND WHEREAS it will require the stun of ;53,518.09 to defray the general
expenses of the Police Village of Claremont and to cover the share of
the Police Village in sundry services and expenses of the Municipality
during the said year;
AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of 11,437.40 to defray the cost of
the municipality for Welfare to the unemployed and poor and hospitaliz--
ation of same, in the said. ,year;
AND WHEREAS the County Council of the County of Ontario will require
the levy and collection from and upon all the rateable propefty in the
Municipality of the Township of Pickering, in the year 1955 of an amount,
for the purposes of the said County, of 897,916.20;
AND WHEREAS the total amount of taxable property in the said Municipality,
including all portions thereof, in the said year 19552 is the stun of
59,945,567.82;
AND WHEREAS the total amount of taxable property in the said Police
Village of Claremont in the said year is }5344,911.44;
AND WHEREAS the Township of Pickering High School Board has requisitioned
.,537,061.22 for High School purposes in the year 1955, and such requisi-
tion shall be levied over the whole of the said Township;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Corporation of the Township of
Pickering:
1. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the Municipality of the Township of Pickering,
the rate or sum of 10.2 Mills on the Dollar, which will amount to
the sum of $ 97,926.69 for the improvement and repair of roads and
bridges, the payment of salaries, and the general expenses of the
Municipality in the Year 1955, as stated in the preamble of this
By-Law.
2. That there be raised, levied, and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the Police Village of Claremont in the year
1955, the rate or sum of 10.2 Mills on the Dollar, which will amount
` to the sum of j3,518.09 for the purposes of the said Village and
Township, as stated in the said preamble.
3. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the said Municipality of the Township of Pickering
in the year 1955, the rate or sum of 1.15 Mills on the Dollar, which
will amount to the stun of '? 11,437.40 to defray the cost of giving
Welfare to the unemployed and poor, and hospitalization of same in
the said Municipality, during the year 1955, as stated in the said
preamble.
4. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the said Municipality of the Township of
Pickering, in the year 1955, the rate or sum of 9.P5 Mills on the
Dollar, which will amount to the sum of 5 97,963.83 for the general
purposes of the Corporation of the County of Ontario, including main-
tenance and improve-ment of County and Suburban roads, in the said year,
as stated in the said preamble.

5. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the
rateable property in the said Municipality of the Tomiship of
Pickering, in the year 1955, the rate or stun of 3.7 Mills on the
Dollar, which will amount to the sum of 36,798.59 for the use of
the Township of PicLering High School Board for the year 1955.
