A BY-LAW OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF T'',lE TOWNSHIP OF PICRERING, TO LEVY
A RATE TO COVER COST OF OPERATION OF THE SEVERAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS.
WHEREAS under By-law No. 1823 a FIRE AREA was created, comprising
o s No. 24 to 35 inclusive, from Lake Ontario to half way between
rye, Concessions Nos. 3 and 4, known as FIRE AREA NUIviBER ONE, and has an
assessment of $3,347,791.49;
AND WHEREAS the remainin° part of the Township secures protection
rom hielT_olice Village of Claremont and t#e Stouffville, Ajax and
Brougham Fire Brigades;
AND WHEREAS the assessment for the Police Village of Claremont for
the year-1755 is $3114,911. 1}, and as they own their own local fire
fihting equipment are exempt from further levy;
AND WHEREAS the assessment of the Municipality, excluding Fire Area
Number ne`, and the Police Village of Claremont, is $6,252,864.89;
AND WHEREAS Fire Area Number One requires the sum of $ SZ d3,
an the remaining area requires the sum of $2,500.00 for "THE
OPERATION OF FIRE E,?UIPYENT" for the year 1955;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the Township of
TT-clFe-rIng:
fjg1, 1. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon
all the rateable property in FIRE AREA NUMBER ONE in the
year 1955, the rate or sum of /,,; Mills on the Dollar, amounting
to $ fJS"6. for the aforesaid purpose in the said year.
2. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon
all the rateable property in the Municipality, excluding
FIRE AREA NUMBER ONE, and the Village of Claremont, the
rate or sum of rf Mills on the Dollar, amounting to $.2J10/-/Z-
for the aforesaid purposes in the said year
