A BY-LAW OF THE "III'ITCIPALTTV OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERT_NG, TO LEVY
A RATE TO COVFR COST OF OPERATION OF THE. SFVFRAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS.
WHEREAS under "y-Law No. 1£323, a FIRF. AREA was created, comprising
Lomas Nos. 24 to 35 inclusive, from -sake Ontario to half way
between Concessions Nos. 3 and 4, known as FIRF AREA No. 1, and
has an Assessment of .$ 2,602,981t.ll.i
?.K AND WHEREAS the remaining; part of the 'township secures protection
from lice VillaRe^ of Pickerino- and Claremont, and the
Brougham rtre Bri-ade, each receivinm a yearlv guarantee of
FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($ 400.00).
,d h AND -4TFIERFAS the assessment for the Police Villages of Claremont
and Pickering, for the vPar 1953 is " 924,467.00 and as they own
their local fire fiehtinC equipment, are exempt from further levy.
4.U11, AND WHEREAS the assessment of the Municipality, excluding; Fire Area
o. , an the two Police Villages of Claremont and Pickering, is
$ 5,210,352.49.
'-44. AND WFFRF,AS Fire Area No. 1, requires the sum of Sa 4,111.53, and
the rema n.nv Area requires the sum of $ 2,132.26 for "THE OPERATION
OF FIRF FQUIPMFNT" for the vear 1953•
BE IT THER"FORE ENAC,TFD B" THE MUNICIPAL COI;NCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP

1. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon
all the rateable property in Fire =area No. 1, in the year
1953, the rate or sum of 1.6 ;:`ills on the Do1J-ar, amountinc;
to $ 4,164.'77 for the aforesaid purpose in the said ,year.
2. That there be raised, levied and collected, from and upon
all the rateable property in the l,lunicipality, excluding
Fire Area No. 1, and the two Police Villaces of Pickerin,
and Claremont in the year 1953, and the rate of sum of .} mills
on the Dollar, amountinc to S 2,084.11, for the aforesaid
purpose in the said year.
