HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 1825B Y- L A W N 0. 1 8 2 5 Of the Municipality of the Township of Pickering, to adopt the agreement between Landowners in the Hamlet of WHITEVALE, for the erection of STREET LIGHTS, and the Township of Pickering. WHEREAS over fifty percent of the Owners (according to the last T.5 revised assessment roll) of the Hamlet of Whitevale, have petitioned the Municipal Council for the installation of 1 4 STREET LIGHTS in the said Hamlet. AND WHEREAS at a meeting held in Whitevale on June 14th, 1950, called for this purpose (notices of said meeting having been mailed to every owner eight days prior to said meeting), no objections were heard. AND WHEREAS the costs submitted to said meeting by Mr. J.C.Burns, Resident Hydro Engineer, were - Capital costs $1,043. Plus $9.00 per light per year. If extra poles were required for lights there would be additional cost. BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL of the Township o Pickering:- 1. That the agreement with the ratepayers of the Hamlet of Whitevale be approved, and shall become a part of this By-law Schedule "A". 2. That the work be carried out under the Local Improvement Act whereby the Township of Pickering shall assume FORTY PERCENT (40%) of the cost of installation and upkeep and that the Rate- payers of said Hamlet shall have levied upon their tax bills the balance of 60%. Said levy of capital costs shall be made 20,% in the year 1951 - 20% in the year 1952, - and 20% in the year 1953, together with 60% of the current operating costs. 3. That the said levy shall be a charge against all the rateable property in said Hamlet, and that this By-law may be P ?. registered in the Registry office of the County of Ontario at f Whitby.
