BY-LAW to assess the Municipality of the Township of Picketing,
exclusive of the Po]ice Villages of Picketing and Claremont,
for the improvement and repair of roads and bridges, payment
of salaries and the general expenses of the Corporation, in
the year 1949; to assess the said Police Villsg~of Picketing
and Claremont for village and township purposes in the said year;
to assess the whole of the said Municipality to defray the cost
of relief during the said year; to assess the whole of the said
Municipality for a general school rate, to provide funds for
the Township statutory grants to public schools in the said
year; to assess the whole of the said Municipality, in the
year 1949, for roads and general purposes of the County of
Ontario; and in the same year to assess the whole of the said
Municipality for use of the County in aiding in the maintenance
of High Schools, in the said year.
WHEREAS it will require the sum of $ I o , ~ o :'

of the Municipality of the Township of Picketing apart from the
Police Villages of Pickering and Claremont, for the improvement
and repair of roads and bridges, the payment of salaries and the
general expenses of the Municipality, in the year 1949:
AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of $ ~8 to defray
the general expenses of the Police Village of Picketing and to
cover the share of the Police Village in sundry services and
expenses of the Municipality during the said year:
AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of $~~ bo defray
the general expenses of the Police Village of Claremont and
to cover the share of the Police Village in sundry services and
expenses of the Municipality during the said year:
AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of $ ~$'~6 ~ to defray
the cost to the whole of the Municipality for relief to the
unemployed and poor and hospitalization of same, in the said
year~

AND WHEREAS the amount to be raised by general levy from the
whole of the said Municipality in the present year for the
payment of the statutory township grants to public schools
required by Section ll2 of the Public Schools Act, R.S.0.1937,
as the same has been amended by Section 3~ of the Public Schools
Amendment Act, 1938, is the sum of $ /~ ~-~

AND WHEREAS the County Council of the County of Ontario will
require the levy and collection from and upon all the rateable
property in the Municipality of the Township of Picketing,
in the year 1949, of the following amounts for the purposes of the
said County,
that is to say:

AND WHEREAS under the authority of the Public Schools Act, by
a By-law passed at the last session of the said County Council,
th~ said County Council has directed the levy and collection
from and upon the said Municipality of the Township of Picketing,
in the year 19~9, the sum of $15,686.21 for the use of the said
County in paying the grants and allowances to High Schools as
required by the provisions of the said Public Schools Act.
AN_D WHEREAS the total amount of taxable property in the said
Municipality, apart from the Police Villages of Pickerlng and
Claremont, in the year 19~9, is $6,~87,780.67.
AND WHEREAS the total amount o£ taxable property in the said Police
Village of Picketing,in the said year, is $45~,362.11.
AND WHEREAS the total amount of taxable property in the said
Police Village of Claremont, in the said year, is $252,031.99:
AND WHEREAS the Township of Picketing High School Board has requisi-
tioned $14,388.35 for High School purposes in the year 19~9, and
such requisition shall be levied over the whole of the said Townsht~

AND WHERF~S the total amount of taxable property in the said
Municipality, including all portions thereof, in the said
year 1949, is the sum of $7,194,174.77:
BE IT THEREFORE ~NACTED by the Municipal Corporation of the
Township of Picketing:
1. That there be raised, levied and collected from and
upon all the rateable property in the Municipality of the
Township of Picketing, exclusive of the Police Villages of
Picketing and Claremont, the rate or sum of'~-~Mills on the
dollar, which will amount to the sum of l~-4~ - for the
improvement and repair of roads and bridges, the payment of
salaries and the general expenses of the Municipality in the
year 19~9, as stated in the preamble of this By-law.
2. That there be raised, levied and collected from and
upon all the taxable property in the Police Village of Picketing
in the year 1949, the rate or sum of~ Mills on the dollar,
which will amount to the sum of ~ ~ for the purposes of
the said Village and Township, as stated in the said preamble.
3. That there be raised, levied and collected from and
upon all the rateable property in the Police Village of
Claremont, in the year 1949, the rate or sum of 7wh7 Mills on
the dollar, which will amount to the sum of ~ ~,~/ for
the purposes of the said Village and Township, as stated in
the said preamble.
That there be raised, levied and collected from ar~
upon all the rateable property in the said Municipality of
the Township of Picketing, including the said Police Villages
of Pickering and Claremont, in the year 1949, the rate or
sum of °77 Mills on the dollar, which will amount to the sum
of $ 5539.00 to defray the cost of giving relief to the
unemployed and poor and hospitalization of same in the said
Municipality during the year 1949, as stated in the preamble.

5. That there be raised, levied and collected from
and upon all the rateable property in the said Municipality,
including the said Police Villages of Pickerlng and Claremont,
in the year 1949, the rate or sum of 2.6~ Mills on the
dollar, which will amount to the sum of $19,061~.00 for
the purposes of statutory township grants to the public
schools in the said Municipality, in the said year, as
stated in the said preamble.
6. That there be raised, levied and collected from
and upon all the rateable property in the said Munidipality
of the Township of Picketing, including the said Police
Villages of Picketing and Claremont, in the year 19~g, the
rate or sum of.~-.7~ Mills on the dollar, which will amount
to the sum of $ ~/.2~2o~for the general purposes of the
Corporation of the County of Ontario, including maintenance
and improvement of county and suburban roads, in the said
year,' as stated in the preamble.
7. That there be raised, levied and collected from
and upon all the rateable property in the said Municipality
of the Township of Picketing, including the Police Villages
of Claremont and Picketing, in the year 1949, the rate or
sum of ~' / ~' Mills on the dollar, which will amount to the
sum of $ /~/~Y~ ~'~for the use of the Corporation of the
County of Ontario to reimburse High Schools for the education
of Township of Picketing Secondary Pupils tn the year lpg8.
8. That there be raised, levied and collected from
ahd upon all the rateable property in the said Municipality
of the Township of Picketing, including the Police Villages
of Claremont and Pickertng, in the year 1949, the rate or
sum of 2. Mills on the dollar, which will amount to the
sum of $ /~3~.~for the use of the Township of P.ickering
High School Board to operate Claremont and Picketing High

Schools, to pay fees of Secondary School pupils attending
High Schools not within the Township of Picketing and supply
transportation of said pupils to same, for the year 19~9.
