HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 1742BY-LAW Number 1742 By-lev to assess the Municipality of the Township of Plckaring, exclusive of the Police Villages of Picketing and Claremont, for the improvement and repair of roads and bridges, payment of salaries and the general expenses of the Corporstion, in the year 1948; to assess the said Police Villages of Pic~ering and Cleremont for village end township purposes in the said yesr; to assess the whole of the said Municipality to defray the cost of relief during the said year; to sssess the whole of the said ~uniclpality for e general school rate, to provide funds for the township statutory ~rsnts to public schools in the said year; to assess the whole of the said Mu21cipality, in the year 1948, for roads and general purposes of the County of 0ntario~ and in the same year to assess the whole of the said Municipality, ceptlng the two continuation school districts which are composed of Public School Sections 4 ~Vest end l§ of the said township,)for use of the County in aiding in the maintenance of High and Continuation Schools, in the said year. ~gftEREAS it will require the sum of $~ ~22.~from that part of the Municipality of the Township of Pickering ap~rt from the Police Villages of ~lckering and Cleremon~ for the improvement and repair of roads and bridges, the payment of salaries end the general expenses of the ~unicipality, in the year 1948: AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of $~o_~to defrsy the general e×penses of the Police Villsge of Pickering end to cover the share of the Police Village in sundry services and expenses of the Municipality during the said year: ~ WHEREAS it will require the sum of $/~j~ to defray the / general expenses of the Police Village of Claremont end to cover the share of the Police Village in sundry services and expenses of the Municipality during the said year: AND WHEREAS it will require the sum of $ ~ ~. to defray the cost to the whole of the Municipality of relief to the unemployed and poor and hospitalization of same, in the said year: AND WHEREAS the smount to be rsised by general levy from the whole of the said Municipality, in the present year for the pay~ ment of the statutory township grants to public schools required by Section ll2 of the Public Schools Act, R. S. 0. 1937, as the same has been amended by Sectiem 34 of the Public Schools Amendment Act, 1938, is the sum of $ /4 ~O 2. ~ AND WEEREAS the County Council of th~ County of Ontario will re- quire the levy and collection from end upon all the rateable' property in the iZunlcipality of the Township of Picketing, in Ihs year 1948, of the following amounts for the purposes of the said County, that is to ~o~ ~D ~,~R~S under euthority of the Public Schools Ac~, by a passed at the last session of the said County Council. the said County Oounoll has directed the levy ~nd collection from ~nd upon'ell those po~t~ons of the/s~ld L~uniolpsll~y of the To~'nship of Piokerlng ss not included within the limits of the Continuation School Districts composed of Public So,col Sections N~bers 4 ~est end 15, in the 1948, the s~ of $ ~V~.~or the use of the said County in peking the grants end allowances to Hish and Continu~tion Schools ss ~qulrsd by the provisions cT the said Public Schools Act. AND W~REAS the total ~mount of t~xable property In the said Muni- cipality, ~psrt from the Police Villages o~ Pioke~i~ ~nd Clsremont, in ~he year 19%8, ls $6,389,720.67. ~ %~EAS the total amount of ta~sble property In the said Police Village of Picketing, in the said year, Is $453,339.93: ~D ~REAS the total amount of taxable property in the said Police Village of 01~remont, in the ssld year, ~s $260,172.15: A~ W~R~S the total amount of taxable property in the said Munici- pellty, including all portions thereof, in the said year 1948, is the s~ of $?,10~,2~2.75: ~D ~R~S the total amount of taxable property in the Cont~nu~tto~ School District composed of Public School Section N~ber 4 West, in the ss year, is $6~V,4~.28: ~ ~AS the total amount of taxable property in the Continuatio: School District, composed of Public School District N~ber 15, in the year, is $502,5~.15: -3- ~'" AND WHEREAS the total amount of tsxable property in the ssid Municipality, apart from the said Continuation School Districts, in the said year, is $5,923,226.32: BE IT THEREFOBE ENACTED by the ~unicipal Corporation of the Township of Pickerlng: 1. That there be re lssd, levied and collsetad from end upon all the rstesble property in the Municipslity of the Township of Pickering, exclusive of the Police Viliages of Plckerin~ end Cleremont, the rate or sum of 7.-~ mills on the dollar, which will amount to the sum of $~7,~2Z,~efor the improvement and repair of roads and bridges, the payment of salaries smd the general expenses of the Municipality in the year 1948, as stated in the preamble of this By-law. 2. Thst there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the taxable property in the Police Village of Pickerlng, in the year 1948, the rate or stun of ~.~ mills on the dollar, ~hlch will amount to the sum of $~o0,~ for the purposes of the said village end township, es stated in the said preamble. Z. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon ell the rateable property in the Police Village of Claremont, in the year 19486~/ the rate or sum of ~ mills on the dollar, which will amonnt to the ~ sum of $ ~ff~%~ for the purposes of the said village and township, as stated in the said preamble. 4. That there be rsised, levied end collected from and upon sll the rsteable property in the said Municipality of the Township of Pickering, including the said Police Villages of Picketing and Clsremont, in the year 194e, the rate or sum of .~f mills on the dollar, which will~ amount to the sum of $ ~3~.~ to defray the cost of giving relief to the unemployed and poor and hospitalization of same in the said Municipality, du~lng the year 1948, as stated in the preamble. 5. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the rateable property in the said ~uniclpality, including the said Police Villages of Pickerlng snd Claremont, in the year 1948, the Pate or sum of ~-~*mills on the dollar, which will smount to the sum of $ for the purposes of statutory township grants to the public schools in the said Municipality, in the said year, es stated in the said preamble. 6. That there be raised, levied and collected from and upon all the rateable property in the said Municipality of the Township of Pickering, including the said Police Villages of Pickering and Claremont, in the the rate or sum of__~y''millsT. on the dollar, which will ' year 1948, amount to the sum of $-~,~7.~-~~, for the general purposes of the Corpora- tion of the County of Ontario, including maintenance and improvement of county end suburban roads, in the said Sear, as stated in the preamble. 7. That there bc raised, levied and collected from and upon ell the rateable property in those portions of the Municipality of the Township of Plckering apart from the aforesaid Continuation School Districts which of Public School Sections Numbers 4 West and 15 of the said composed Township, in the year 19%8, the rate or sum of ~. ~ mills on the dollar, amounting to the sum of $/3.~3/. ~ for the use of the said Corporation of the County of ontario, in the said year, in aiding in the maintenance of High and Continuation Schools, ~s stated in the preamble.
