A By-law of the Municipal Corporation
of the Township of Piekering to entitle
every person to be entered on the
Resident Voters' List.
WHEREAS Section 257 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O.
1960, Chapter 249 provides for the placing of questions before
the electorate on the ballot at municipal elections; and
WHEREAS the question -- ~Are you in favour of
extending the right to vote at Municipal elections for members
of Council to all persons of full age of twenty-one years who
are British subjects and who have resided in the Municipality
for at least one year in accordance with The Municipal Franchise
Extension Act, R.S.O., Chapter 254~ -- was voted on in the
December 3rd, 1968 Municipal Election; and
WHEREAS the result of the vote was --

BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Municipal Council of the
Corporation of the Township of Picketing that the names of the
persons entitled to be entered on the Resident Voters'List be
obtained by the Assessor during the taking of the assessment in
the year: Every person so qualified under The Municipal Franchise
Extension Act, R.S,O. Chapter 254, Sec. i (2) a,b,c,d,e; that
where the Assessor is unable to obtain the required information
at any place of residence, he shall leave (or the Clerk) a form 1
at such place of residence.
This by-law shall be deemed to be in force and effect
as of the day of passing and as of the first day of January,
the year of our Lord, 1969.
