HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 3871/70THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING BY - LAW NUDE ER ?? ? 1 ,d being a by-law to authoxize the construction of water- mains in the Glengrove local improvement area as local improvements under the provisions of Sections 11 and 67 of The Local Improvement Act. WHEREAS it is expedient that the construction of watermains in the Glengrove local improvement area of the Township of Pickering shall be undertaken at the cost hereinafter set out as local improvements under the provisions of section 11 of The Local Improvement Act; AND WIIEREAS the cost of the said works is to be levied by imposing special assessments therefor against lands in a local improvement area hereinafter defined, pursuant to section 67 of The Local Improvement Act; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF BICKERING ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. That watexmains be constructed on the streets and between the points thereon set out on Schedule "A" hereto annexed at an c-stimated cost of $183,000.00 as local improvements under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. 2. The entire cost of the said watermains is to be specially assessed upon the lands abutting directly on the work and upon lands not abutting directly upon the work but immediately benefitting therefrom. The entire cost, including debentuxe charges, shall be assessed and levied on the rateable property in the local improvement area set out in Schedule "B" annexed hereto, which is hereby defined a local improvement area pursuant to Section 67(l) of The Local Improvement Act, R.S.0.1960, as amended, and be paid by an annual rate of $1.60 per foot on the lands specially assessed. - 2 - 3. The Engineer of the Corporation is hereby autroxized to make such plans, profiles and specifications and furnish such information as may be necessary fox the making of contracts fox the doing of the work ox for carrying out the same by day laboux and the work shall be carried on and executed under the superintendence and according to the directions and orders of the said engineer. 4. The entire cost of the said watexmians is to be paid by the issuing of debentures bearing interest at the rate of 10 per centum per annum and be repaid by the special assessments over a texm of 20 years. 5. The Treasurer of the Township may, subject to the approval of Council, agree with any bank or meson, for temporary advances of money to meet the cost of the work pending completion thereof. 6. SCHEDULE "A" Watermains to be constructed on: Glengrove Road from Highway 2 to Glenview Road; Valley Farm Road from Highway 2 to Valley Farm Road; Glenview Road from Highway 2 to Valley Farm Road; Highway 2 (Kingston Road) from a point 764 feet east of Liverpool Road to Valley Farm Road; and on the south side of Finch Avenue from Valley Farm Road to Liverpool Road. SCHEDULE "B" LOCAL IMPROVEMENT AREA All those certain parcels or tracts of land situate lying and being in the Township of Pickering in the County of Ontario and being composed of all those lands fronting or abutting on Glengrove Road from Highway 2 to Glenview Road; Valley Farm Road from Highway 2 to Finch Avenue; Glenview Ro--Ad from Highway 2 to Valley Farm Road; Highway 2 (Kingston Road) from a point 764 feet east of Liverpool Road to Valley Farm Road; and on the south side of Finch Avenue from Valley Farm Road to Liverpool Road.
