A By-law to authorize the signing
of an agreement between the Township
of Pickering and the Town of Ajax.
WHEREAS under Section 17 of the Regulations made under
the General Welfare Assistance Act of Ontario provision is made
for subsidy by Ontario on payments approved by the Director in
respect to certain costs of administration of Welfare Services
provided by employees of a municipality that employs a full time
welfare administrator.
AND WHEREAS the meaning of "Welfare Services" includes
"Social Services".
AND WHEREAS staff qualified to provide such counselling
services are now being engaged as employees of the Department
of Social Services of the Township.
AND WHEREAS the aforementioned counselling services are being
made available to residents of the Pickering Township, Ajax Town
and Pickering Village Community communities.
AND WHEREAS it is agreed that the services rendered by the
Director of Family Counselling and Social Planning and the
services of his Clerk-typist are evenly divided as between
counselling services and social planning services.
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Reeve and Clerk be
authorized to execute said agreement.
By-law read a first, second and third time and passed in open
Council this 29th day of November, 1971.
