A By-law of the Township of Pickering
to Provide an Alternate for the Head
of Council Ex-Officio Member of Boards
WHEREAS the Reeve of the Township of Pickering was elected to
the honoured position of Warden of the County of Ontario, and
WHEREAS the duties of the Warden will on occasion pre nt the
Reeve from sitting on certain boards and (commissions as
ex-officio member representing the Township of Pickering due
to the extra responsibilities created by the position of Warden,
and,
WHEREAS under Section 214 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O., 1960,
provision is made whereby the Municipality may by by-law appoint
a member of the Council to act the place of the Head of
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED that, during the 1971 term of Warden
Council on any board, (commission or other body of which the
Head of Council is a member ex-officio under any general or per,;,»S, ..w

for Reeve J. R. Williams, that the Deputy Reeve be appointed
as a substitute for e Head of Council as ex-officio member
