THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING
BY-LAW NUMBER "',
A by-law of the Corporation of the
Township of Pickering to authorize
speed limits.
WHEREAS Subsection 2 of Section 82 of the Highway Traffic
Act (R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 202) authorizes the Council of
a Township or County by by-law to prescribe a lower rate
of speed for motor vehicles on a highway or portion of
highway under its jurisdiction;
AND WHEREAS the Council of a Township may by by-law
prescribe a speed limit of 25 miles per hour for motor
vehicles driven on a highway under its jurisdiction in any
built-up area within the Municipality;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that the speed limit
for motor vehicles on certain highways in the Municipality
of the Township of Pickering be decreased to 25 miles per
hour;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the
Township of Pickering ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. When any highway or portion of highway set out in
Schedule "A" appended hereto is marked in compliance
with the regulations under the Highway Traffic Act
the maximum rate of speed thereon shall be the rate
of speed prescribed in the schedule.
2. The penalties provided in subsection 16 (a), (b),
(c), and (d) of Section 82 of the Highway Traffic
Act shall apply to offences against this by-law.
3. This by-law shall not become effective until approved
by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

day of 1973.
