HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 4382/73THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 3 &Z 73 A by-law to authorize the con- struction of sanitary sewers and sanitary sewer connections on the streets set out herein as local improvements under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. WHEREAS a petition has been received by this Council from owners of lands liable to be specially assessed with the cost of the works as local improvements and the Clerk has certified that the petition is sufficient; AND WHEREAS it is expedient to grant the prayers of such petitioners in the manner hereinafter provided; NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Pickering ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. THAT sanitary sewers be constructed on the streets and charged to abutting owners and lands immediately benefitting all within a defined local improvement area as outlined on a map marked "A" hereto annexed and forming a part of this by-law, at an estimated cost of $440,000.00, as a local improvement under the provisions of The Local Improvement Act. 2. THAT sanitary sewer connections be constructed on the streets between the points as set out in Schedule "B" annexed hereto and forming a part of this by-law, at an estimated cost of $91,800.00 as local improvements under the provisions of The Local IMprovement Act. The entire cost of each connection shall be specially assessed upon the particular lot for or in connection with which it is constructed. 3. THE Engineer of the Corporation is hereby authorized to make such plans, profiles and specifications and furnish such information as may be necessary for the making of contracts for the doing of the work or for carrying out the same by day labour and the work shall be carried on and executed under the superintendence and according to the directions and orders of the said Engineer. 4. THE entire cost of the works be paid by the issuance of debentures bearing interest at the rate of 8-1/2 percentum per annum and be repaid by the said special assessments over a term of 20 years. 5. THE Treasurer of the Township may, subject to the approval of Council agree with any bank or person for temporary advances of money to meet the cost of the work pending the completion thereof. 6. Any person whose lot is specially assessed may commute by a payment in cash the special rates imposed by paying the cost of construction assessed upon such lot without the interest forthwith after the special Assessment Roll has been certified by the Clerk but not commute after the debenture by By-law has been passed. 1 _4Y 50 i v a 0 3y 1 a ao-a ut ? ? ?
