Being a by-law to establish a
Community Centre in the Township
of Pickering.
WHEREAS provision is made for the establishment of a
Community Centre in Ontario under The Community Centres
Act, R.S.O., 1970, Chapter 73, Section 4 (1);
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Township of Pickering deems
it desirable to establish a Community Centre in part of
Lots 22 and 23, Concessions 2 and 3, Township of Pickering;
AND WHEREAS the Township of Pickering has entered into an
agreement with the Metropolitan Toronto and Region Conserva-
tion Authority for the use of 102.4 acres of land for park
recreational (athletic field) (community centre hall) and
conservation purposes;
AND said agreement shall remain in full force and effect
until superseded by an agreement mutually acceptable to
the Township of Pickering and the Metropolitan Toronto and
Region Conservation Authority;
THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Township of Pickering
ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. That a Community Centre defined as a Park - Recreational -
Athletic Field Community Centre Hall
4a under the Community Centres Act, R.S.O. 1970, and
regulations thereunder be established in part lots 22 and
23, Concessions 2 and 3 of the Township of Pickering and
that said Park - Recreational - Athletic Field Community
Centre Hall and Conservation Area be administered by the
Council of the Township of Pickering.
2. That the Community Centre Park - Recreational - Athletic
Field Community Centre Hall and Conservation Area shall
be maintained by the Council in conformity with the Act
and Regulations made thereunder.
3. That the said Park - Recreational - Athletic Field
Community Centre Hall and Conservation Area will be
called the Grand Valley Community Centre.
