A By-law to provide an Alternate
for the Head of Council Ex-Officio
Member of Boards.
WHEREAS the Reeve of the Township of Pickering is expected
to be absent from the Municipality for a period of
approximately one month;
AND WHEREAS it is essential that the business of the
Municipality is carried on in his absence;
AND WHEREAS under Section 213 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O.,
1970, provision is made whereby the Municipality may by
by-law appoint a member of the Council to act in the
place of the Head of Council on any board, commission or
other body of which the Head of Council is a member
ex-officio under any general or special Act (this shall
specifically include the Planning Board) except a board
of commissioners of police;
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED that the Deputy Reeve, George
Ashe, be appointed as a substitute for the Head of Council
as ex-officio member of boards, commissions or other
bodies in the absence of the Reeve.
