HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 136/74THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKRING BY-LAW NUMBER Being a By-law to provide for the licensing of Auctioneers within the Town of Pickering, and to repeal By-law 3495. WHEREAS the Corporation of the Town of Pickering has pursuant to The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, Chapter 284, Section 381(1)p. 7 authority to enact this By-law. NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. It shall not be lawful for any person within the Town of Pickering, to carry on the business of an Auctioneer or to sell or put up for sale, goods, wares, merchandise or effects by public auction, without first having obtained a licence for so doing from the By-law Enforcement Officer, or such other person as may be appointed to issue licences within the Town of Pickering. 2. The sum to be paid for a licence under this By-law shall be $50.00 per year or part thereof. 3. Every licence issued under this By-law shall be renewable on the 31st day of January of each year. 4. Any person convicted of a breach of the provisions of this By-law shall forfeit and pay, at the discretion of the Court, a penalty not exceeding $300.00 exclusive of costs, for each offence. 5. By-law Number 3495 is hereby repealed. 6. This By-law shall come into force and take effect on the 2nd day of December, 1974.
