HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 123/74THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER Q3 /7- Being a by-law respecting smoking in retail shops in which ten or more persons are employed, passed pursuant to s.354(1) para.28 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970. NOW THEREFORE BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY ENACTED: 1. No person shall smoke in any retail food store in which ten or more persons are employed, except in any part or parts thereof used as a restaurant, a lunch counter, a rest room, or as offices by members of the staff. 2. In every such retail food store, a sufficient number of signs worded "No Smoking", in letters not less than six inches in height, shall be prominently displayed so as to be clearly visible from all parts of each floor to which Section 1 applies. 3. Every person who contravenes any provisions of this by-law shall, upon conviction thereof, forfeit and pay, at the discretion of the convicting judge, a penalty not exceeding (exclusive of costs) the sum of $50.00 for each offence.
