Being a by-law to authorize the
construction of a Community Centre
at an estimated cost of $265.000.00
WHEREAS it is desirable that a Community Centre fcr the
Bay Ridges area of the Town of Pickering be constructed
for the recreational and social needs of the residents;
AND WHEREAS the cost of construction of the Community
Centre is estimated at $265,000.00;
AND WHEREAS authority for said construction of the facility
is found in section 352 (79) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O.
1970, as amended;
AND WHEREAS it is estimated that a Provincial grant will
be obtained by the Town on the amount of $66,000.00;
AND WHEREAS a cash contribution estimated at $19,000.00
will be received by the Town towards the cost of the
project;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient for the purpose of
constructing the said Community Centre to borrow a sum
not exceeding an amount of $180,000.00;
AND WHEREAS the total cost of the construction of the
Community Centre for which a grant, subsidy or contribution
is not received will be levied by an annual rate against
all the rateable property in the Town of Pickering over
a period of 20 years;
AND WHEREAS application has been made to the Council of
the Regional Municipality of Durham to borrow said sum
and to issue debentures therefor;

NOV THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE T07N
OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The construction of the Community Centre be and the
same is hereby authorized.
2. There shall be borrowed for the purpose set out in
Clause 1 the sum of $180,000.00 which sum shall be
a charge against all the rateable property in the
Town of Pickering.
3. That the special rate to pay for the said
Community Centre shall be paid in 20 annual instalments.
4. By-law #254/75 is hereby repealed.
