Being a by-law to amend By-law
Number 3295 of the Town of
Pickering.
WHEREAS it is seemed expedient that the Building By-law
of the Town of Pickering be amended in order to provide
greater safety for those residents of multiple storey
buildings;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF PICKERING ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. By-law 3295 is amended by adding thereto the following
new section:
136. In all buildings of three storeys or more the
owner shall provide and install safety devices
on windows with movable sash and balcony doors
to prevent risk of accident to children. Such
devices shall be installed in a manner to
prevent children from opening a door or window
to beyond four (4) inches and this requirement
shall apply to all storeys above this first.
2. Section 136 of By-law 3295 is hereby renumbered
Section 137.
By-law read a first, second and third time and passed
this day of % il? , 1975.
