HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 497/76THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 1 q"j - 6 Being a By-law to amend By-law 3821/70 respecting the operation of noisy machinery and noises WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to provide for the operation of noisy machinery and the permitting of noises in an emergency; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. Section 6 of By-law Number 3821/70 is hereby revoked and the following substituted therefor: 6(a) The provisions of this By-law shall not apply to: (i) any ringing of church or school bells; (ii) any case of public convenience or necessity; (iii) any parade or public gathering operating for a limited period of time under permit of the Town and the Chief of Police of the Durham Regional Police Force; (iv) any signals authorized or required by competent legislation; and (v) any declared emergency. (b) No situation shall be declared an emergency for the purposes of clause (v) of subsection (a) hereof, unless so declared by Resolution of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering, at its sole discretion. (c) Any declaration made pursuant to subsection (b) hereof may be retrospective in effect. By-law read a first, second and third time and PASSED this 0 I day of (14441V , 1976.
