HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 355/76THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NUMBER 3 y ')Ic Being a by-law to fix instalment dates, penalty amounts and interest rates respecting the payment and collection of taxes. WHEREAS By-law Number ?- q 1t provides generally for the payment and collection of taxes; AND WHEREAS, pursuant to that By-law, it is deemed expedient at this time to fix the due dates for the payment of instalments of taxes, to fix the amount of a penalty for non-payment of taxes, and to fix rates of interest on unpaid taxes; THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering enacts as follows: 1. Taxes levied for 1976 under By-law Number shall be collected in four (4) instalments, being two interim billings and two final billings, as follows: Interim Tax Billings: Due date of FIRST INSTALMENT - the fourth Tuesday in February, 1976 Due date of SECOND INSTALMENT - the third Thursday in April, 1976 Final Tax Billings: Due date of THIRD INSTALMENT - the fourth Friday in June, 1976 Due date of FOURTH INSTALMENT - the third Wednesday in September, 1976 2. The amount of the penalty for non-payment of 1976 taxes or any instalment thereof shall be one (1) percent of the outstanding amount imposed on the first day of default and on the first day of each calendar month thereafter in which default continues, but not after the end of the year 1976. 3. The Town Treasurer and Tax Collector shall add to the amount of all taxes, due and unpaid in 1976, interest at the rate of one (1) percent of the amount unpaid per month for each month or fraction thereof after the 31st day of December, 1976, and shall continue to collect such unpaid taxes together with interest at the aforesaid rate until such taxes are paid.
