BY-LAW NUMBER 911/78
Being a By-law to designate certain
highways within the Town of
Pickering as through highways.
WHEREAS clause 33 of subsection 1 of section 1 of The Highway
Traffic Act, R.S.O. 1970, c.202, as amended by S.O. 1974, c.123,
defines "through highway" as a highway or part of a highway
designated as such by the Minister or by by-law of a municipality
and providing that every such highway shall be marked by a stop
sign or yield right-of-way sign in compliance with the regulat-
ions of the Ministry:
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to designate or re-designate
certain highways in the Town of Pickering as through highways;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The highways set out in Column I of Schedule A to
this by-law, between the limits set out in Column
II of the said Schedule, are, except as provided
in Section 2 of this by-law, hereby designated as
through highways.
The designation in section 1 of a highway or portion
of a highway as a "through highway" shall not
include any intersection thereon where the highway
intersected is a King's Highway, a Durham Regional
Road or where traffic control signals are installed.
3. By-laws 353/76, 485/76, 492/76 and 505/76 are hereby
repealed.
4. This by-law shall come into force on the date that
it is approved by the Council of the Regional
Municipality of Durham and when signs to the effect
are erected.
