BY-LAW NUMBER 868/78
Being a By-law to appoint a Municipal Law
Enforcement Officer pursuant to the pro-
visions of the Police Act.
WHEREAS, pursuant
by the Council of
February 16, 1976
Act, R.S.O. 1970,
appointed as the
Pickering;
to the provisions of By-law 359/76, enacted
the Corporation of the Town of Pickering on
pursuant to the provisions of The Municipal
c. 284, Mr. Thomas H.A. Howard has been

AND WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of clause b of subsection
1 of section 66 of The Regional Municipality of Durham Act,
1973, S.O. 1973, c. 78, as amended by section 113 of The
Regional Municipalities Amendment Act, 1978, S.O. 1978, c. 33,
section 68 of The Police Act, R.S.O. 1970, c. 351, applies to
an area municipality within the Regional Municipality of
Durham;
AND WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of section 68 of The
Police Act, the Council of any municipality may appoint one
or more Municipal Law Enforcement officers who shall be Peace
Officers for the purpose of enforcing the by-laws of the
municipality;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF
PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. From and after the 9th day of August, 1978, Mr.
Thomas H.A. Howard, of the Town of Ajax, in the
Regional Municipality of Durham, is hereby ap-
pointed as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer,
who shall be a Peace Officer, for the purpose
of enforcing the by-laws of the municipality of
the Corporation of the Town of Pickering.
2. By-law 359/76 is hereby repealed.
BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally PASSED
this 8th day of August
