HomeMy WebLinkAboutBy-law 791/78THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING BY-LAW NO. 791/78 Being a By-Law to amend By-Law 3803/70, protecting, managing, regulating, govern- ing and controlling all public park lands and Community Centre premises under the authority of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering. THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. By-Law 3803/70 is hereby amended by adding thereto the following Section: 3a. (1) No person shall knowingly or not know- ingly permit any dog owned or harboured by him to enter or remain upon any Park Lands or Community Centre Premises unless, (a) the person has registered the dog and has been issued a cur- rent valid dog licence for the dog by the Municipality in which the person resides; and (b) the dog is controlled by a competent person by means of a leash not exceeding ten feet, or three metres, in length. (2) No person shall knowingly or not know- ingly permit any dog owned, harboured or controlled by him to defecate upon any Park Lands or Community Centre Premises unless, the person in control of the dog at the time of defecation, (a) immediately removes the sub- stance defecated; and (b) as soon as possible in the circumstances disposes of such substance in a sanitary manner. (3) The provisions of this Section shall not apply to any public park lands or Community Centre premises under the authority of the Corporation of the Town of Pickering and located in Concessions 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 inclu- sive. 2. Section 5 of the said By-Law is hereby revoked and the following substituted therefor: 5. Any person convicted of a breach of any of the provisions of this By-Law shall be liable to a fine of not more than $1,000.00, exclusive of costs, for each offence, recov- erable under the provisions of The Summary Convictions Act. - 2 - BY-LAW read a first, second and third time and finally passed this 3rd day of April , 1978.
