THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF PICKERING
BY-LAW NUMBER 944/79
Being a By-law to change the names of
streets in Registered Plans M-1017 and
M-1135.
WHEREAS pursuant to paragraph 97 of subsection 1 of section
354 of The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1970, c. 284, as amended,
councils of local municipalities may pass by-laws to change
the names of highways; and
WHEREAS Registered Plan M-1135, known as Lookout Point South
subdivision, abuts Registered Plan M-1017, known as Lookout
Point subdivision; and
WHEREAS certain highways in Registered Plan M-1135 connect
to existing highways in Registered Plan M-1017 in order to
form continuous travelled roads; and
WHEREAS there now exists various street names on one contin-
uous travelled road and similar names for various streets;
and
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to change the names of various
streets in Registered Plans M-1017 and M-1135 to alleviate
confusion;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN
OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. The names of the highways listed under the heading
"Street" in Schedule "A" attached hereto be changed
to the name listed under the heading "New Street
Name" in the location indicated and for the reason
cited.
2. A sketch of Registered Plans M-1017 and M-1135 is
attached hereto as Schedule "B" for reference
purposes only.
3. This by-law shall take effect when:
(a) it has been approved by a judge of the County
Court on the Judicial District of Durham, and
(b) the judge's certificate of approval has been
registered, together with a certified copy of
this by-law, in the proper land registry office,
and shall be effective from the date of such registra-
tion.
4. By-law 905/78 is hereby repealed.
By-law read a first and second time this 22nd day of
January 1979.
