BY-LAW NUMBER 1045/80
Being a by-law to amend by-law number
4236/72 to authorize the participation
of the Town of Pickering Public Library
Board with the Town of Pickering in the
Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement
System.
WHEREAS pursuant to subsection 1 of section 14 of The
Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System Act, R.S.O.
1970, c. 324, as amended, a local board may by by-law or
resolution participate in the Ontario Municipal Employees
Retirement System on behalf of its employees and pay to
the Fund the total of the employer and employee contribu-
tions, and has all the powers necessary and incidental
thereto; and
WHEREAS the Town of Pickering Public Library Board has
deemed it expedient to participate with the Corporation
of the Town of Pickering in the Ontario Municipal Employees
Retirement System;
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN
OF PICKERING HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 of By-law Number 4236/72 is hereby
amended by adding the following:
(a) The Employer hereby elects to participate
together with the Town of Pickering Public
Library Board as a single employer under
The Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement
System Act and the Regulations made there-
under.
BY-LAW READ a first, second and third time and finally
PASSED this 19th day of February 1980.
